Day 32: Blessing

“The unthankful heart discovers no mercies; but the thankful heart will find, in every hour, some heavenly blessings.” ― Henry Ward Beecher
I’ll be honest, I struggle with the words “blessing” and “blessed;” I much prefer gratitude and thankfulness. For EVERYTHING. The big things, the small things, and everything in between. Like breakfast in bed on a lazy Saturday morning.

Day 33: Devotion

A painting that hangs outside of the RE classes at our church. I am so thankful for the many devoted teachers who help to nurture children’s minds and spirits in the tradition of liberal religion.

Day 34: Freedom

Freedom is a mid-afternoon walk on a warm spring day with a little boy and his dogs.

Day 35: Imagination

Imagination = a swashbuckling pirate in lederhosen carrying a fishing net filled with cars.

Day 36: Justice

Some of my old law school books…Though I tend to think that justice is far better served by compassion, kindness, forgiveness and mercy, than it is by “the law.”

Day 37: Wonder

“If you enjoy living, it is not difficult to keep the sense of wonder.” — Ray Bradbury

Day 38: Hunger

“When in doubt, ingest carbs.” –Rachel Cohn
Or better yet, Mexican food. With neighbors.

  1. I love all your pictures, but honestly I was hooked by your fist few lines. I think being “blessed” is all in how you look at things. As you said – with gratitude and thankfulness. When we choose to see our lives that way, everyone is blessed. 🙂
