There are those days, those weeks, those months when things just seem a bit, well, subpar. When we’re feeling a little down, a little stressed, or in a bit of a funk. Maybe the cause is a fleeting, no-good-reason bad mood. Or maybe its work stress, family feuds, relationship disagreements, career setbacks, rejection, money problems, illness, medical concerns, lack of sleep, or just a case of the Mondays.
Whatever the reason, we all find ourselves in need of a pick-me-up every now and again. Last week, Courtenay at Iowa Soup Mama wrote about how researching – everything from cork flooring to laser hair removal – helps her feel better in the face of rejection. While I could write several posts about rejection, I will save that topic for another day and, instead, give you a list of things that make me feel better.

As I’m having one of those months, this post was a breath of fresh air. We have a lot of “happy” things in common, particularly the coffee and the showtunes. 🙂 Oh, and cannot wait for the latest Arrested Development!!
Yes! Sunday night. Our dogs are named Jobe (i.e. Gob) and Maeby. Needless to say, we are big fans.
I’m having one of those days. Actually, it’s been a couple of days, so thank you a million times for this post. I needed it. Now I’m pretty sure I’m going to head home and go for a run while screaming at the top of my lungs, after which I will eat raw cookie dough in front of the TV.
Your comment totally brightened my day! I should have added that to the list too – comments from awesome blog readers 🙂
Lovely list! And I can’t wait for new Arrested Development, though that in itself is bittersweet as I turned my soon-to-be ex-husband on to that show and we watched it together often. Sigh, that’s the worst rejection.
Oh, honey, I’m sorry. So sorry.
Add to this list a great book you can’t put down. And cocktails.
I LOVE your list! It’s so easy to get stuck in our bad mood- even when we are stuck in “figuring it out.” But often the best solution is to walk away from it. If it’s legit, it will be there when we get back and we can address the issues then. More often than not, however, I find that when I take a break, I gain perspective and my “problem” has shrunk to a more realisitic and managable size.
i love your ideas!
Thanks
Vicky
Thanks, Vicky! You’re right – sometimes some time and space is all that’s needed.
What a wonderful list! I’m happy to know we’re both screamers (nothing better)! I’ve never watched Arrested Development but Jason Bateman is a favorite and you like it so I’ll give it a try. Hugs to you!
Oh, you MUST watch it! The reruns are on IFC and the new season is available on netflix.
